Philosophy of Games
Ever wondered why we continue to play a game despite the fact that we are completely bored with it and just end up doing the same task over and over again? This is one of the questions I consider in this article in response to Thi Nguyen's book Games: Agency as Art, for a special issue of the Journal of the Philosophy of Sport.
This paper provides an analysis of game playing using Habermas' framework of strategy, ethics, drama, communication. It considers what would be the 'perfect' game and how it can address the paradox posed by Suits' utopia.
